A collision between a car and a motorcycle on Oct. 5, 2022 in Thorold that resulted in the death of the man on the bike has now seen charges pressed against the St. Catharines driver of the car.

On Oct. 5, Niagara Police responded to the collision at the Hwy. 406 overpass on Hwy. 20 in Thorold and found the motorcycle driver, a man in his 50s from Pelham, seriously injured.

He was taken to the hospital but died shortly afterwards. The collision was serious enough that both the car and the motorcycle were write-offs after the accident.

After an extensive investigation, on March 31, the 62-year-old St. Catharines driver was charged with careless driving causing death. Police have not released the name of the driver or the Pelham man who was killed.

He was released on a summons and is scheduled to appear at the courthouse in Welland on April 4.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have information is being asked to contact the lead detective by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009569.
