Square One in Mississauga hosts inaugural Drag Brunch

Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga is hosting its inaugural Drag Brunch this Saturday (June 18) in support of Pride Month, which continues until the end of June.

The sold-out brunch is being held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in The Food District at the mall and features performances from some of the area’s top drag artists.

Brunch will be served by BlackJack BBQ, Big Fat Cookies and Village Juicery. Mimosas will also be on the menu and several prize draws are on tap as well.

Event organizers say inclusivity is celebrated year-round at Square One, and they’re excited to be hosting the first Drag Brunch.

“Everyone is welcome at Square One as we build and grow a more inclusive place. We connect and reflect our community of shoppers and the people who work at our centre. The inaugural Drag Brunch at The Food District reinforces community presence and celebration and will become an ongoing event beyond June,” said Stephen Gascoine, Square One director and general manager. “Partnering with our retailers and restaurants to celebrate Pride is one way of bringing our community together this Pride Month and throughout the year.”

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to PFLAG Canada Peel Region, a volunteer-run chapter of PFLAG Canada that offers peer-to-peer support on issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression for families and friends of LGBTQ+ loved ones.

Another Drag Brunch is planned at Square One in October.
