Those heading out for date night this Valentine’s Day may want to check the weather.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement today (Feb. 14) for Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, Niagara and Durham Region.

Strong winds gusts of up to 80 km/h are expected to begin Wednesday afternoon and continue into the early evening, Environment Canada warns.

“High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break,” the statement reads. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”

The high winds come as temperatures are expected to soar into the low to mid double digits on Wednesday making it feel more like late March or early April.

These warm temperatures help create gusty wind conditions, Environment Canada notes.
