A special weather statement has been issued for Hamilton on Monday (June 28) as hot and humid conditions are expected to keep things pretty steamy throughout the day.

Humidex values in the upper thirties to near forty are expected, Environment Canada said in its statement.

Areas in and around the lakeshore may experience cooler temperatures, the national weather agency said.

There is a 60 per cent risk of thunderstorms Monday afternoon and into the evening.

Slightly cooler temperatures are expected to settle in around Hamilton Monday evening but on Tuesday, temperatures are once again expected to heat up.

The good news is that Hamilton residents will be able to cool off as most of the City of Hamilton’s outdoor pools are expected to open to the public Monday.
