A special weather alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in parts of southern Ontario, including Halton region, Hamilton, and southern Niagara region.
Heavy rain from now until the early evening may produce local rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm, according to the weather alert issued by Environment Canada.
“Showers and isolated thunderstorms along a cold front will bring the potential for locally heavy rainfall,” said the federal agency.
The high amount of rainfall will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas, with potential for flooding.
Residents are advised not to drive through flooded roadways, and to avoid low-lying areas.
