SIU Probes Crash After Police Officers Struck in Brampton

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate after two police officers were struck by a vehicle in Brampton early Friday.

The incident took place on May 11 around 2 a.m.
That’s when Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting RIDE checks near Hwy. 410 and Queen St.
The officers were hit by a vehicle, which fled the scene.
Police followed.
The same vehicle was soon after involved in a single-vehicle crash in Etobicoke at Kipling Ave. and Steeles Ave. W.
Paramedics treated a 37-year-old man and a 25-year-old man – who were both inside the vehicle – before transporting them to hospital with serious injuries.
Four investigators, three forensic investigators and one collision reconstructionist have been assigned to this incident.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to phone the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
Anyone with video evidence related to this incident is asked to upload footage.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency which investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
