Niagara Police are looking for a suspect after jewelry store robberies at two separate malls in Welland and St Catharines last night (August 9).

Police were called to Seaway Mall in Welland at 6 pm where they discovered a man had entered Tianna Jewellery Store. Once there, he asked an employee for assistance as he was shopping for chain necklaces.

As the employee pulled out a pallet of chains, the man grabbed it and ran out of the store, fleeing the scene before police arrived.

Fifty minutes later, the police were called to the scene of an identical robbery, right down to the stolen pallet, at Charm Diamond Centre in St Catharines’ Pen Centre.

Caught on security camera, the suspect is described as black, six-foot, black hair with a medium build. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a yellow circle and white markings in the middle and a medical mask on his face.

His vehicle was described as a gray Chevy Sedan with tinted license plates.

Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police at 905-688-4111, ext. 1002200.
