Shooting in Mississauga leads to attempted murder charges for Oshawa, Whitby men

A near-fatal shooting in Mississauga has led to the arrest of three men from Oshawa and Whitby on attempted murder charges.

Gunfire erupted near Matheson Blvd. and Creekbank Rd on Nov. 8. The area is largely industrial and home to several workshops and stores. Peel Regional Police dispatched officers to the scene where they found the victim suffering multiple gun shot wounds.

He was rushed to hospital, where he remain in stable condition. Police have not identified or described the victim. At the time police said there had been an altercation prior to the shooting, but have not shared any details of its nature. The shooting was believed to be an isolated incident and there was no further threat to the public in its wake.

Investigators launched “Project Poseidon” to find the culprits. On Jan. 5, they raided several properties across the GTA and arrested three suspects. They also claim to have seized three guns and and a large quantity of drugs. Police did not say what drugs were discovered.

Angelo Reid, 34 of Oshawa, is charged with attempted murder and seven firearm offences, including having a gun with an altered serial number.

Ralphord Shaw, 27 of Whitby, four weapon offences and three counts of drug trafficking. Finally, Anthony Jones, 35 of Whitby, is charged with attempted murder.

All three remained in custody until a bail hearing and appeared in the Brampton courthouse.
