Severe thunderstorm watch issued for parts of southern Ontario

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of southern Ontario.

The yellow weather alert from Environment Canada covers some western parts of the Greater Toronto Area, as well as Hamilton and Niagara Region, south to Windsor.

Areas from Pickering to east of Kingston are also affected.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain,” the alert said.

The storms may occur Thursday afternoon and early evening.
