Drivers will have to deal with another few nights of QEW lane closures in Mississauga this week as work continues on the rehabilitation of the highway bridge over the Credit River.

The latest in a series of ongoing overnight lane closures are scheduled for tonight through Thursday (Aug. 2-4) into early the following mornings.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project say that both eastbound and westbound lanes will be impacted Tuesday and Wednesday nights while only westbound lanes will be partially shut down overnight on Thursday.

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings:’

  • westbound first lane (11 p.m. to 5 a.m.) and second lane (midnight to 6 a.m.) will be closed from east of Hurontario St. to west of the Credit River bridge
  • eastbound first lane (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.) and second lane (midnight to 5 a.m.) will be closed from west of Mississauga Rd. to east of the Credit River bridge

Officials say all closures are dependent on the weather and that minor traffic impacts are anticipated.

Additionally, they note that South Sheridan Way and Mississauga Rd. interchange ramps will remain open during the lane closures.

On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, two westbound lanes from east of Hurontario St. to the Credit River bridge will be shut down to traffic.

The first lane will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. while the second lane will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m.

Officials note that minor traffic impacts are expected and, again, work schedule depends on the weather.

As work continues on the massive Credit River bridge project, drivers and area residents can expect ongoing traffic disruptions to impact part of the QEW and other areas in the vicinity of Mississauga Rd. and the highway in the coming weeks and months.

Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of construction.

After years of planning, work on the new bridge continues to move forward.
