The shooting spree that left both a police officer in Mississauga and auto shop owner in Milton dead, may yet claim another victim.

During a multi-jurisdictional press conference today, Halton Regional Police Chief Steve Tanner, said a second person gunned down by the suspect at a Milton auto repair shop on Monday is on life support and not expected to survive.

The victim is a 28-year-old international exchange student who worked part-time at the automotive shop. His identity has not been released at this time.

“Sadly he remains on life support and not expected to survive,” said Tanner who went on to explain how events unfolded quickly before the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Sean Petrie, then made his escape. Petrie was eventually tracked down to Hamilton where he was shot and killed during a confrontation with police.

Shakeel Ashraf, 38, the owner of MK Auto Repairs on Bronte Rd. S. near Main St. in Milton, was shot and killed during the attack. Funeral services were held for him in Mississauga yesterday.

Another man, a 43-year-old worker at the auto shop, was shot in the leg during the Milton incident. His injuries were not life-threatening and he has since been released from hospital.

Tanner said police from all jurisdictions will continue with their investigation and try to determine the motive for the killings and how Petrie acquired the illegal handgun used in the crimes.
