Scooter rider seriously injured by hit and run driver on Brant St. in Burlington

A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit and run collision last night in Burlington.

Just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 2, 2022 a person riding a stand-up scooter north on Brant St. was struck by an SUV just north of Leighland Ave. The SUV fled the area.

The pedestrian was originally transported to a local hospital with what was believed to non-life threatening injuries. The pedestrian was later transported to a local trauma centre where they remain with critical injuries.

During the investigation, the SUV, a blue Honda CRV, believed to be involved in the collision returned to the area of the collision. The driver was identified as a 58-year-old Burlington man who has been charged under the Provincial Offences Act.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who have not spoken to police, or if anyone had dashboard cameras that were in the area at the time of the collision, to contact the collision reconstruction unit.
