Multiple schools in Brampton were put on lockdown after a student was reportedly seen with a weapon on Wednesday.

Peel Regional Police said the call came in just after 12 p.m. with reports that a student was seen earlier in the morning “with a possible weapon” in the area of Pine Landing Trail and Freshspring Drive.

Officers searched for the student and put two nearby schools on lockdown as a precaution, but did not released the names of the schools.

A police spokesperson told Insauga.com that the possible sighting was reported by a staff member at one of the schools. No details were released about what type of alleged weapon seen in the incident.

Police said in an update that the lockdowns were lifted shortly before 1:30 p.m. and that the student had been located and taken into custody

Drivers and residents can expect to see a police presence in the area of Sandalwood Parkway East and Mountainash Road, and should avoid the area until the scene is cleared.
