Roads blocked as grass fires battled in Burlington

Emergency crews are on the scene of a series of grass fires in Burlington that have disrupted traffic through the area.
The fires emerged this afternoon along the railroad tracks between Appleby Line and Guelph Line near Mainway.
Police announced they have subsequently closed several roads in the area and have not indicated when they will reopen.
Blocked off are Mainway east of Walkers Line; Appleby Line north of Upper Middle Road; and Upper Middle Road west of Appleby Line.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that sparks from a passing train ignited the grass.
Personnel from several Burlington fire stations have been dispatched to the scene.
