Robert Tanner of Pickering is now $1 million richer

A retired Pickering technology worker is now a million bucks richer after winning with INSTANT ULTIMATE  in the January 4 draw.

Robert Tanner of Pickering said he is a regular player of INSTANT games and heard about ULTIMATE this year, so he decided to give it a try.

“I just woke up and scanned my ticket on the OLG app and thought I won $1,000. I took a second look and realized it was $1 million. I still couldn’t believe it – I had a shower and went back to it again.”

There was a lot of disbelief that continued to liner, he added. “The more I talked about it the more excited I would get. My kids have been a very grounding force for me – they’ve kept me smiling and my head in an appropriate amount of clouds!”

He plans on sharing with his children and treating his grandchildren to something fun. “I also plan on treating myself to a sunny and warm vacation on the beach.” he said with a smile.

INSTANT ULTIMATE was $100 a play with 40 $1 million top prizes drawn on January 4. The odds of winning any prize were 1 in 3.55.

The winning ticket was purchased at The Daily Planet Bookstore on Dundas Street in Whitby.
