Retired Hamilton teacher charged with child sexual offences

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with child luring offences.

Police say John Douglas Hashimoto, of Hamilton, was arrested on March 31, 2021, and has been charged with luring a child under 16 years and invitation to sexual touching.

According to police, Hashimoto was communicating online using the name “David” or “David 46.”

Police say Hashimoto is a retired teacher with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and is actively involved in youth baseball in the City of Hamilton.

In the past, he was also a Lead Baseball Instructor for the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy and a Master Coach Developer and Evaluator for Baseball Canada.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
