Work currently carried out at the Bramalea GO Station is meant to ultimately lead to increased service for travellers.
The work will see the extension of the west pedestrian tunnel to the south parking lot.
According to Metrolinx, once complete, this will allow for an additional main track for two-way, all-day service, while at the same time maintaining safe and barrier-free pedestrian access to the station platforms.
This work follows major station improvements completed in early 2023, including a new LEED gold certified station building, new parking structure, bus terminal, new passenger pick-up and drop-off area and covered bicycle parking. LEED Gold certification signifies a building that has achieved a high level of sustainability and green practices.
“Improvements like these allow us to serve even more daily passengers as we introduce two-way, all-day GO train service over the next several years, all while providing a better experience for you,” Metrolinx says.
Here are some of the highlights of the current project:
- A new enclosed station access building
- Extending the existing pedestrian tunnel. This will allow customers to directly access the tunnel from the south parking lot, which will connect them to station platforms
- A new 30-metre pedestrian walkway between the south parking lot and the new station access building
- Preparatory construction of a retaining wall to protect for future track
- Associated civil grading, drainage, structural, landscaping, electrical, lighting, CCTV, fare systems, signage
