Reducing waste, clutter goal of drive-thru event at Burlington Centre

An event aimed a reducing waste and clutter is being held at Burlington Centre Saturday, May 14.

The Zero Waste Drive Thru and Indoor Repair Cafe is seeing Burlington Centre partnering with BurlingtonGreen and the Burlington Repair Cafe to help the community repurpose household items and eliminate clutter from their homes and offices while helping the environment.

The convenient, contact-free drive-thru will take in the outer parking lot off Fairview St. at Burlington Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Crew members from the Electronic Recycling Association will be on-site to accept computer and cell phone electronics, and a series of Terracycle Zero Waste bins will be located at the drive-thru station to accept more unique waste items not currently accepted in Halton Region’s recycling program.

Candy wrappers, Brita water filters, reusable plastic containers and lids and used PPE can be dropped off, along with batteries and ink cartridges.

Staff from the Burlington Repair Cafe will be located inside the Burlington Centre in the hub to repair broken or damaged household items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
