The month isn’t over yet but Mississauga already broke the record for the highest amount of rainfall in April.

The record for “all-time monthly rainfall” in April was broken as of this morning, according to a post on X from Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The total rainfall amount for April was 138.1 millimetres at Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

This beats the previous record of 133.4 mm recorded in 1992. The monthly rainfall amounts have been recorded since 1938.

Yesterday (April 29), 12.5 millimetres of rain fell at the airport. The two days with the most rainfall in April were April 3 when 32 mm fell; and April 11 when 33.8 mm fell.

On April 11, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement as total rainfall amounts of 20 to 45 mm were expected in parts of southern Ontario.

After a drizzly and rainy day today, sunshine and drier conditions are expected for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

But rain is back in the forecast just in time for the weekend with 40 per cent chance of rain on both Saturday and Sunday in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Durham and much of southern Ontario.
