RECALL: Urgent notice for food products sold in Ontario and Quebec

There is an urgent recall notice for certain food products that were sold in Ontario and Quebec.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said the products are being pulled from shelves over allergen concerns.

Two sizes of the Mounit el Bait brand Tahina are impacted.

One is 454 g in size and has the UPC number 281029 254215.

Another is 908 g in size and has the UPC number 5 281029 254215.

Both have the following codes: PRO: 07/01/2026 EXP: 06/01/2029 LOTNO: 250715.

The CFIA said they’re being recalled “because they contain peanut which is not declared on the label.”

It’s a class one recall, which means “there is a high risk that consuming the food may lead to serious health problems or death,” the CFIA website says.

The CFIA said the recall was triggered by test results and there haven’t been any reported reactions associated with the consumption of the products.

Consumers are being advised to check to see if they have the recalled Tahina.

“Do not consume recalled products to which you are allergic or sensitive as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction,” the CFIA said.

“Do not serve, use, sell or distribute recalled products. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.”

The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation which could lead to more products being recalled.

“The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace,” the agency said.
