RECALL: Sauce pulled from shelves in Canada

A certain type of sauce has been recalled in Canada.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said in a notice that it’s being pulled from shelves “due to spoilage.”

The affected product is the Westside Sauce brand Peanut Thai.

It’s 237 ml in size, has the UPC number 6 27987 67780 5, and the following codes are impacted: Best Before: 05/02/2028; Lot 351.

The CFIA said it was distributed in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and online.

The CFIA said the issue is “non-harmful” and related to quality or spoilage. It’s listed as a class three recall.

The CFIA’s website says class three recalls are for cases where “there is a low risk that consuming the food may result in any undesirable health problems. This class also includes food that do not pose a health risk, but that do not comply with legislation.”

Consumers were still told to not use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected sauce.

The recalling firm is The Prairie Stock Market & Goods.

Westside Sauce’s website says that its Peanut Thai sauce has peanut butter, Thai chilis, and local honey and is good for lettuce wraps, stir-frys, and chicken wings.

The company is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
