More than 15,000 vehicles have been recalled in Canada because of an issue that could cause them to lose power to their wheels.
Two recall notices have been issued for the problem, affecting various models.
“On certain vehicles, the DC/DC converter could fail. As a result, the 12 V battery would not charge and a red ‘Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected’ warning message would be displayed,” Transport Canada said in the notices.

“If this happens, and you continue to drive the vehicle, there could be a loss of power to the wheels and/or the vehicle’s lights could turn off….
“A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Exterior lights that don’t work may make the vehicle less visible to others and increase the risk of a crash.”
One recall is from Land Rover and the other is from Jaguar.
For Land Rover, the following models / model years are impacted, affecting 14,542 vehicles:
- Land Rover — Defender — 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024
- Land Rover — Discovery — 2021 2022 2023 2024
- Land Rover — Discovery Sport — 2020
- Land Rover — Range Rover — 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024
- Land Rover — Range Rover Sport — 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024
- Land Rover — Range Rover Velar — 2021 2022 2023 2024
- Range Rover — Evoque — 2020 2021 2022 2023
Transport Canada said only certain mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV) are affected.
For Jaguar, the following models / model years are impacted, affecting 719 vehicles:
- Jaguar — E-Pace — 2021 2022
- Jaguar — F-Pace — 2021 2022 2023 2024
Again, officials said only certain mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV) are affected.
In total, there are 15,261 vehicles in Canada that are affected by the two recalls.
Land Rover and Jaguar will notify owners by mail.
“The corrective actions for this recall are under development,” Transport Canada said.
