Nearly 13,000 vehicles recalled for second time in Canada, Ford F-150

Nearly 13,000 vehicles have been recalled for a second time in Canada.

Transport Canada said in a notice that the issue has to do with the vehicles’ lightning systems.

The recall is from Ford, with 2018, 2019, and 2020 F-150 models affected.

Overall, 12,774 vehicles are impacted in Canada.

“On certain trucks, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 20C03 (Transport Canada recall no. 2020-071) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required,” officials said.

“A software problem could cause the daytime running lamps (DRLs) to remain on when switching the master lighting switch from the ”autolamp” position to the ”headlamp on” position. Canadian regulations require the DRLs to turn off when the headlamps are switched on.”

Daytime running lamps that remain on could cause glare for oncoming drivers and increase the risk of a crash, officials said.

Ford will notify owners about the issue by mail.

They will be advised to take their truck to a dealership for a software update.
