Another cheese product has been recalled in Canada.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said it’s being pulled from shelves “due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.”

The affected product is the Auricchio brand Gorgonzola D.O.P. Piccante.

It’s 200 g in size, has the UPC number 8 004603 100787 and the following codes are impacted: L 2595276A1 Best Before: 08/05/2026; L 2595219A1 Best Before: 08/05/2026.

It was distributed in Ontario and Quebec.

Consumers are being advised to check if they have the recalled cheese.

It should be thrown out or returned to where it was purchased.

“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness,” the CFIA said.

“Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.”

The CFIA said that this recall was triggered by its inspection activities and there haven’t been any reported illnesses associated with the cheese.

The CFIA said it’s conducting an investigation which could lead to more products being pulled from shelves.

This is the latest in a series of cheese recalls that have happened recently due to Listeria concerns.

Earlier this week, another Auricchio brand product was pulled from shelves in Ontario and Quebec.
