RECALL: ‘Loss of control’ risk for hundreds of vehicles in Canada

Hundreds of vehicles have been recalled in Canada because of an issue that could lead to a loss of control, officials say.

“On certain vehicles, the rear subframe bolt(s) may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolt(s) could loosen and the rear subframe could detach,” Transport Canada said in a notice.

“This could lead to poor handling and a loss of vehicle control…. Poor handling and a loss of control can create the risk of a crash.”

Officials said a rear subframe that detaches from a vehicle could also create a hazard for other road users and increase the risk of a crash.

The recall is from Honda and involves the 2026 Passport and 2026 Pilot models.

There are 493 vehicles that are affected in Canada.

Honda will notify owners about the problem by mail.

They will be advised to take their SUV to a dealership for an inspection.

If needed, the rear subframe bolt(s) will be replaced and / or tightened.

Meanwhile, Transport Canada also recently published a recall notice that impacts more than 5,000 Ford vehicles.

In that case, the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 Ford Flex models are affected.

That recall is due to trims on the front and rear driver-side and passenger-side doors that may not be properly attached.

As a result, they could detach from the vehicle, which could create a hazard for others, officials said.
