RECALL: Chocolate among numerous products recalled in Ontario

Chocolate is among numerous products included in a recall notice this week.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said various pistachio and pistachio-containing products are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

“This recall was triggered by test results,” the CFIA said.

“There have been reported illnesses that may be associated with the consumption of these products.”

The list of impacted products is included in a table at the end of this article.

The recalling firm is Kunafa’s Inc.

Consumers are being advised to check to see if they have any of the products. They were distributed in Ontario.

They should be thrown out or returned to where they were bought.

“Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections,” the CFIA said.

“Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”

The CFIA said it’s conducting an investigation which could lead to more recalls.
