Police say officers stopped over 300 vehicles during a R.I.D.E. check in St. Catharines and suspended one person’s license for three days.

Niagara police say that on April 7, officers conducted the spot check on Burleigh Hill Drive at Dalecrest Avenue.

Of the more than 300 vehicles stopped, 12 drivers were required to provide a sample of their breath for analysis.

Police say one driver was determined to be in the “alert” range, leading to a license suspension.

Police also say that 11 tickets were issued for other Highway Traffic Act violations, adding that a small quantity of cannabis was seized over the course of the spot check.

Police say impaired driving remains the leading criminal offence causing death in Canada.
