Notices of temporary lane and ramp closures on the QEW in Mississauga are coming fast and furious as crews ramp up the work schedule on rehabilitation of the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project, who are overseeing the massive undertaking, have been putting out closure notices almost every other day in recent weeks.

The latest notice, issued today (Aug. 23), tells motorists that the following lane and ramp closures will be in effect, weather permitting, this Thursday and Friday evenings (Aug. 25-26):

  • two QEW eastbound lanes from west of Mississauga Rd. to east of the Credit River bridge–first lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
  • two QEW westbound lanes from east of Hurontario St. to west of the Credit River bridge–first lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
  • Mississauga Rd. on-ramp to eastbound QEW–from midnight to 5 a.m.

Project officials say traffic disruptions are anticipated due to the overnight construction work.

In notices issued yesterday (Aug. 22), project officials alerted motorists to a series of temporary lane and ramp closures to take place, weather permitting, on Aug. 23, 25, 26, 29 and 31.

As work continues on the massive Credit River bridge project, drivers and area residents can expect ongoing traffic disruptions to impact part of the QEW and other areas in the vicinity of Mississauga Rd. and the highway in the coming weeks and months.

Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of construction.
