Province reporting 4,362 new COVID-19 cases, 34 deaths

The province is reporting 4,362 new COVID-19 cases today (April 17) and 34 new deaths linked to the virus.
There are 1,162 new cases in Toronto, 936 in Peel, 430 in York Region, 301 in Durham, 251 in Ottawa, 211 in Hamilton, and 144 in Halton.
Since yesterday, 3,611 more cases are considered resolved and nearly 56,900 more tests have been completed.
As of 8:00 p.m. yesterday, the province reports that 3,751,316 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario.
In response to rising case numbers, the province has extended the stay-at-home order and announced a slew of harsh new restrictions on Friday, including bans on outdoor activities, restrictions on interprovincial travel, and giving police authority to stop people and vehicles to ask them where they live, where they are going and why.
