The province is reporting 2,199 new cases of COVID-19 today, May 16 (down 385 from yesterday) and 30 new deaths linked to the disease (up six from yesterday).

There are 633 new cases in Toronto, 547 in Peel, 172 in York Region, 143 in Durham, 129 in Hamilton, and 74 in Halton.

Since yesterday, 3,079 more cases are considered resolved and over 33,100 more tests completed.

The province recently hit its 7 million vaccination milestone, with 7,064,815 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine having been administered in Ontario to date.

The province recently announced that the current stay-at-home order will be extended to June 2, essentially shutting down any outdoor activities that were anticipated for the upcoming Victoria Day long-weekend as Ontario health officials believe gatherings during the holiday will contribute to the spread of COVID-19.

“If we manage the next few weeks I think we can have a good summer,” said Premier Doug Ford.

Today’s full case data is available at the province’s website.
