A major investigation into drug trafficking in Brock Township has resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of fentanyl, an ounce of cocaine and cash.

Investigators with the North Division Community Resource Unit launched Project Keystone in May to look into drug activity and trafficking in around Beaverton.

Officers determined that a “significant” amount of activity was occurring in and around a motel located on Osborne Street in Beaverton and executed a search warrant last month at the motel and took two suspects into custody. A quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia was located and seized.

Officers then began focused proactive patrols and traffic stops in the area, in addition to assisting front line officers with numerous priority drug related calls, leading to the seizure of 28 grams of cocaine, a quantity of fentanyl, and over $1,500 in Canadian currency.

In total, Project Keystone fled to the arrest of a dozen people, along with 83 project related traffic stops. 37 Provincial Offence Notices and Summons issued, and 53 Compliance Checks executed in the first month alone.

Anyone with information about this or similar incidents is asked to contact the North Division Community Resource Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1501.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
