UPDATE: Power outages on Hamilton mountain, Stoney Creek affecting thousands of homes and businesses

A power outage on the east mountain in Hamilton is affecting hundreds of homes and businesses Thursday morning (Dec. 2).

Alectra Utilities is reporting that a limited power outage in the area of Upper Ottawa to Mountain Brow and from the LINC to Mohawk Road is affecting 609 customers.

The cause of the outage is, the utility provider said, is an underground distribution problem.

Crews have been dispatched to make repairs and the estimated time for power restoration is 11 a.m.

UPDATE: A second outage on Thursday in Stoney Creek is affecting more than 2,000 homes and businesses.

Alectra reports there is presently a limited power outage in the area from Greenford Drive to Green Road and Queenston Road to Ridge Road affecting 2120 customers.

The cause of the outage is an overhead distribution problem and the estimated time for power restoration is 12 p.m.

UPDATE: All power was declared restored shortly after 6 p.m.
