Port Colborne family of three charged in credit card theft

A month-long investigation into a stolen credit card has resulted in the arrest of three members of a Port Colborne Family.

Niagara police responded to a report of the theft of a credit card on March 31, 2024 and an investigation showed that the stolen bank card had been used multiple times at businesses across the Niagara Region from March 12 through to March 25.

Officers were able to obtain security footage from local businesses and were able to identify the three suspects involved. They were arrested May 6.

A 58-year-old man from Port Colborne is charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by Crime
  • Nine counts of unauthorized use of a credit card

A 45-year-old woman from Port Colborne is charged with:

  • Two counts of unauthorized use of a credit card

A 16-year-old male of Port Colborne is charge with:

  • Possession of property obtained by Crime
  • 13 counts of unauthorized use of credit card

All three were released and are facing future court dates.

Niagara police are prohibited from identifying the youth under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Identifying the adults would lead to the identification of their son.
