Update: Popular U.S. cookie shop opens location in Mississauga

The wait is over — a popular U.S. cookie shop is finally opening in Mississauga.
In December, word got out that Crumbl Cookies, a gourmet cookie shop with locations across the United States, was opening in Mississauga.
And now the shop has announced it will open at Heartland Town Centre, 5985 Rodeo Dr., Unit 1A, this Thursday (July 27). This will be the first Crumbl Cookie location in Ontario.
Co-founded by cousins Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley, the first Crumbl Cookies opened in Logan, Utah in 2017.
The shop opened after the cousins tested many recipes until they created “the world’s best chocolate chip cookie,” according to the Crumbl Cookies website.
Cookies are mixed, balled, baked and dressed in real-time as customers visit the shop. The shop is also known for its signature, Insta-worthy, pink box.

That original chocolate chip cookie remains on the menu today but specialty cookies change weekly. Rocky road, cookie dough and churro flavours were on the menu recently in the U.S.
But Crumbl Cookies in Canada plans to have flavours catered to the Canadian palette, according to the website.
“We’re aware that taste preferences in the United States and Canada can vary, so we’re adjusting our menu offerings accordingly,” Crumbl Cookies notes.
McGowan mentions unique Canadian sweets such as Nanaimo bars and fuzzy peaches. At the media launch, there was a maple cookie and a Saskatoon shortcake cookie.
“You can expect the world’s best cookies with a little local flair,” McGowan says in a press kit video.
McGowan is originally from Alberta and has dual citizenship so it made sense for the company to expand into Canada.
“I was born in Canada and I love everything about Canada,” McGowan says. “We are really, really excited about bringing Crumble to where I was born and where my life started.”
There are multiple locations planned to open in Canada throughout the rest of the year.
Update: An official grand opening for the Heartland store is on Friday, July 28 at 8 a.m. and the first 100 customers will receive a special Crumbl Cookies Canada t-shirt.
There is a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. and festivities will wrap with an “iconic Pink Party featuring music, photo opportunities, and merch giveaways.”
