There’s a new pop-up roller rink coming to Brampton looking for some serious skaters to join the team.

SUSO Skate Co. is transforming the old Sears department store at Bramalea City Centre (BCC) into a limited-time-only roller skating experience.

The pop-up roller rink opens on Oct. 27 and SUSO is looking for new members to join the team to be the face of the Brampton rink to help skaters have fun while staying safe.

With seasonal positions available from October until the end of the Brampton run in February, SUSO Skate has full- and part-time positions starting at $18.00 per hour.

Workers can get up to 35 hours a week or more, depending on SUSO Skate’s event schedule.

“We are a customer experience-led company and want to ensure our skaters are safe and have the best time possible,” SUSO Skate said in a release. “For many, this may be a special occasion like a date night or a birthday party and it’s our job to make sure it is memorable.”

SUSO Skate says it’s looking for staff with a passion for roller skating regardless of skill level. Successful applicants will be responsible for checking in skaters through an online booking system, and help first-time or novice skaters with rentals and returns, as well as skate instruction.

With disco balls, neon signs, a vinyl record album wall and plenty of eye-catching decorations, SUSO Skate Co. says the 30,000-square-foot rink will make for some photo-worthy skate moments.

Here are some of the qualities SUSO Skate is looking for:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be available for the season from October through to the end of February
  • Good customer relation skills
  • Able to manage and direct groups of people
  • Excel at multitasking when under pressure
  • Time management (example: sanitizing equipment during down time).
  • Able to learn and operate the  booking system and point-of-sale software.
  • Have First Aid training or willing to take a course.

SUSO has opened previous pop-ups in old big box stores in Cambridge, North York and Toronto, and the Brampton location will cater to skaters of all ages with adult-only times and family-friendly time slots available.

The SUSO Skate Co. pop-up at BCC opens on Oct. 27 and will be open Wednesdays through Sundays until the end of February. You can learn more by visiting the SUSO Skate website.
