A dirt bike rally planned for a property in Brampton this weekend will have uninvited guests — Peel Regional Police.

The dirt bike/e-bike event is scheduled for a private property in the northeast part of the city.

However, Peel Police will make sure the event won’t be taking place…and if it does, arrests will be made.

“We are aware of an unsanctioned e-bike/dirt bike event tomorrow in northeast Brampton,” wrote Tim Nagtegaal, inspector of road safety services for the police department. “We have received numerous complaints from the community and residents in the area of dangerous driving and these large nuisance meetups. Officers will be present in the area conducting enforcement. Reminder, the use of private lots at schools, malls, plazas, etc. for gatherings without proper permissions is illegal.”

A poster advertising the event for Saturday, Aug. 30, encourages those who want to take part in the event to meet up at Buckham Singh Public School at Martin Byrne Drive at 4 p.m. From there, the participants will be led to the rally location.

Nagtegaal said police will be in the area to watch for any dangerous or illegal behaviour.

Anyone engaging in this type of behaviour should expect to be prosecuted. Please obey the traffic laws and bylaws which govern e-bikes. They are for the safety of all our community members,” said Nagtegaal.
