Police are warning residents, particularly older residents, to be vigilant in the wake of two alleged thefts.

Peel police say that on the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, a 62-year-old man was in the Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West area when he was approached by a male and female suspect asking for directions to the hospital.

Police allege the female suspect showed the victim jewellery and placed the jewellery on him. Police say that both suspects then left in a white vehicle before the victim realized that his own jewellery was missing.

Later on that day, police say a 75-year-old female victim was in the Mclaughlin Road and Matheson Boulevard in Mississauga when she was approached by a female suspect asking for directions to the hospital.

According to police, the suspect also showed the victim jewellery and placed the jewellery on her. Police say the suspect left in a black car that had a male and small child inside.

The victim later realized that her own jewellery was missing.

Police say the male suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man with a light complexion who is 5’5” with a medium build. He looks to be in his 30s and has short brown hair and an unshaven brown beard and moustache.

The female suspect is described as a Middle Eastern woman with a light complexion. Police say she is in her 50s and wears a scarf that covers her head.

Police are reminding the public to report any suspicious activity and to avoid approaching the suspects if they see them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigators at 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at (905) 453–2121, ext. 1233.
