Police not ready to call Pickering gunshot victim murder just yet

Durham Police have not yet determined if the man found dead at the scene of a single-vehicle car accident Thursday afternoon in north Pickering was murdered.

West Division officers responded to a report of a collision involving a grey four-door Honda at Taunton Road and Concession Road 4 in Pickering around noon Thursday. There was evidence of gunshot wounds to the single male occupant, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators from Major Crimes Homicide Unit and the Collision Investigation Unit are working on the case but Police are only calling the death “suspicious” at this time.

More information on the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding his death will be provided once a post-mortem examination is conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses, specifically drivers with dash-cam video between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., anywhere near the area of Brock Road and Taunton Rd to contact them.
