Halton Regional Police are looking to identify the driver of a car involved in a collision with a motorized scooter last month in Oakville that sent a man to hospital with serious injuries.

According to a press release issued Thursday (Aug. 5), police said the incident in question took place on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, just before 3 p.m. in the area of Bronte Road and Lakeshore Road West in Oakville.

A man driving a motorized scooter in a pedestrian crossing was struck by a car that was turning onto Lakeshore. The man was knocked from his scooter and into the intersection, according to police.

The driver of the car, a two-door red Volkswagen, stopped and helped the man back onto his scooter and off the road.

“Unfortunately, the drivers’ information was not obtained at the time, and the two parted ways,” police said in the release.

“As a result of the incident, the scooter operator was later transported to hospital via ambulance with serious injuries.”

In their effort to complete the investigation, police said they are looking to identify the driver of the car.
