Police launch holiday RIDE campaign to nab Mississauga and Brampton impaired drivers

Peel Regional Police have stepped up efforts to keep impaired drivers off the road in Mississauga and Brampton with the launch today of their annual Festive RIDE Campaign.
The initiative, which continues until early in the new year, focuses on stopping motorists who choose to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police say.
Although RIDE spotchecks are conducted year-round, police have beefed up enforcement efforts during the holiday season. Additional officers have also been deployed to the campaign.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility. If you consume alcoholic beverages or drugs, don’t drive,” police say.
Peel police aren’t the only law enforcement organization on extra lookout for drunk and otherwise impaired drivers this holiday season. OPP and municipal police forces across Ontario run their own RIDE campaigns.
