Police have identified the couple killed in Mississauga as the community mourns the loss.

The couple killed in a shocking double homicide on Thursday, June 18 have been identified as Carol Sangwin, 70, and Garwood Sangwin, 71, a Peel Regional Police spokesperson told INsauga.com.

The couple was found in critical, life-threatening condition at a home on Briarwood Avenue in Port Credit shortly after 7 p.m. The were later pronounced dead in hospital.

As of Saturday morning, police said that there were no updates on the case, and there is a Canada-wide warrant out for the couple’s son, 46-year-old Jordan Sangwin.

Investigators urge Sangwin to seek legal counsel and surrender to police.

Police warned the public not to approach Jordan Sangwin as he is considered armed and dangerous.

In the meantime, the Port Credit community is mourning the loss of Garwood (Gary) and Carol Sangwin, and a GoFundMe has been launched to support the surviving family members.

“Family and friends are heartbroken by the sudden and unexpected loss of Carol and Gary, beloved parents, grandparents, family members, and friends,” the fundraiser description reads.

“Caleb and Evan are facing the unimaginable reality of saying goodbye to both of their parents while navigating the many challenges and unexpected expenses that come with such a devastating loss. During this incredibly difficult time, the community is coming together to help ease some of the financial burden so they can focus on grieving, healing, and honouring Carol and Gary’s memory.”

The couple is being remembered as loving and kind.

“As Grandma and Grandpa, they brought warmth, laughter, guidance, and unconditional love to their grandchildren,” the description reads. “Their absence will be felt deeply, and they will be profoundly missed by all of the grandchildren whose lives they helped shape.”

As of Saturday, the fundraiser had raised over $15,000.

Members of the community are also mourning the loss.

“I live across the street from their house. They were a really nice family. My heart goes out to them,” a community member said on Facebook.

“No words to describe the loss. Earth shattering. My heart breaks for Evan, Caleb and everyone who loved Carol and Gary,” another person said.
