Police in York Region have a break in an unsolved Mississauga sexual assault case that happened almost a decade ago.

The attack occurred on Sept. 27, 2013 when a woman in her 40s was attacked after she got off a bus in the area of South Service Rd. and Crestview Ave. near Hurontario St.

Reports indicate the victim was confronted by a man who used a weapon to force her into a grassy area where she was sexually assaulted.

Through their investigation, York Police have linked the case to another sexual assault in Richmond Hill in 2014.

Using data from the Violent Crime Linkage System police say they found a connection and formed a task force to find the attacker.

They believe the man they are looking for is East Asian and possibly located in the Port Credit or south Mississauga. They also believe there are more victims.

York Police are expected to provide an update on the investigation today (March 16).
