Halton police are asking for the public’s help in stopping a rash of bus shelter vandalism incidents that are plaguing Burlington.

Between Feb. 23 and Mar. 7, 15 bus shelters in Burlington have been vandalized. On several occasions, the city completed repairs only to have the glass on the same shelter smashed again overnight.

The majority of the shelters targeted were on New St., however police are also investigating occurrences on Lakeshore Rd., Harvester Rd., Brant St. and Guelph Line.

The police are conducting extra patrols in these areas and want residents report any suspicious activity to police. Police have not made any arrests and do not have any suspect descriptions to provide.

The continued replacement of the shelter glass is costing the City of Burlington thousands of dollars in taxpayers’ money.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or at the website.
