A 52-year-old man from Hamilton turned himself in to police after a pedestrian was struck and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Christopher Mulligan was held for bail and is facing charges related to dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failure to remain at the scene after causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with his probation.

The victim, a 55-year-old woman, remains in hospital and is in critical condition.

The incident occurred Tuesday (Sept. 14) at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Mount Albion Rd, north of Hixon Rd in Hamilton.

Police say the suspect was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV when he lost control of the vehicle, which mounted the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian.

Police say the man exited the vehicle and spoke with witnesses before fleeing on foot, westbound towards Lawrence Rd.

Police had publically urged the driver of the vehicle to turn themselves in.
