Go east, young person, and there be bargains. At least if you consider under $500,000 for a home a bargain, which in todays market in the GTA, it is.

In Oshawa those kind of housing deals are available, making the city a magnet for first-time homebuyers, which are often young people.

Real estate company Zoocasa has compiled a list of eight choice properties available right now, ranging in price from $247,900 to $499,999.

At the low end of the scale are three units at the University Studios complex at 1900 Simcoe St. N. that are listed at $247,900, $277,000 and $318,000, respectively.

These studio apartments are perfect for first-time home buyers and investors, as well as a placed where all your friends can live.

A condo unit at 50 Richmond St. E. in downtown is also attractive at $387,000. This one-bedroom, north-facing apartment has an open floor design with floor-to-ceiling windows, a sizable balcony, and a stunning courtyard view.
