Demolition is underway in Oakville for the Bronte Village Mall redevelopment.

Demolition is underway in Oakville for the Bronte Village Mall redevelopment.

Crombie REIT, a subsidiary of Sobeys Stores, acquired the mall in spring 2016 and is overseeing the redevelopment plans.

Here are some photos taken in early June 2018.

The mall, at the intersection of Lakeshore and Bronte roads, sits on 5.66 acres.

It’s presently developed with a single storey, multi-tenant commercial retail mall, anchored by a 30,000 sq. ft. Sobeys supermarket with a total building area of approximately 93,000 sq. ft.

What’s in store?

A $275 million mixed-use property which is being developed as a residential rental development.

It’s replacing the existing Bronte Village Mall with 480 units of luxury rental living.

In its place, two new luxury rental residential towers of 10 and 14 storeys with 478 suites and 15,000 sq. ft. of retail are proposed to be constructed.

Bronte Village will feature two residential rental towers (14 and 10 storeys), 800 underground parking spaces and 17,500 sq. ft. of new complementary retail space.

The existing 30,000 sq. ft. Sobeys is expected to remain operational during the redevelopment.

Plans for mixed-use residential/retail requires demolition of a portion of the existing retail centre starting at Bronte Rd. up to the western most wall of Sobeys.

Construction is expected to begin  in 2018 with an estimated 2020 completion date.
