PHOTOS: A Look At Brampton’s Four New Parks, Including One Recognizing A Foreign Country

There are currently four parks in Brampton that are under construction.
There are currently four parks in Brampton that are under construction. And, one Brampton councillor is in the pursuit to make one of the parks recognize Brampton’s strong Portuguese and Azores Islands community.
Councillor Martin Medeiros recently proposed to name one of the future parks, Azores Park. The city recommends Park Block 158 to recognize this strong community.
Located at the intersection of Cookview Drive and Brownbush Way in the area of Sandalwood Parkway and Highway 410, the park is about 0.75 hectares with many amenities including a shade structure, an extensive playground, open space and sitting areas. The park should be completed by August 2019 and will boast great curb appeal and visibility.
However, the city has yet to install a park sign. Due to the park’s reasonable proximity to communities with a strong Portuguese heritage, the park will be named Azores Park.
Once the park is complete, staff will install the appropriate signage and a special ceremonial event will be scheduled.

The other three parks are on Longevity Road and Dairymaid Road, Hollowgrove Boulevard in the Eaglebay Estates Development area and Davenfield Circle in the Ouray North Developments area.
The park names and asset addresses will be reviewed by Brampton’s emergency services (fire, ambulance and police services) as per protocol.
All four parks will be completed before November 2019.
