Person struck by train in Mississauga, pronounced dead

One person is dead after being struck by a train early this morning (Aug. 12) in Mississauga.
Around 6 a.m., GO Transit received a report of a person struck by a freight train in the area of Cooksville GO station.
Emergency personnel are on the scene.
As a result of the collision, the Milton GO 07:48 – Union Station 08:48 train has been cancelled and all remaining trains will end at Streetsville GO. Customers can then transfer to GO bus shuttles to Port Credit GO to connect with Lakeshore West trains.
“There will be GO bus service from Streetsville, Erindale, Cooksville and Dixie to connect with the Lakeshore train. Customers are encouraged to make their way to Clarkson, Port Credit or Long Branch for train service,” said GO Transit.
GO Transit expects it will take about two hours before regular service can be resumed.
The investigation into this fatal collision is ongoing.
