Peel Regional Police said the crash occurred at Cawthra Road and The Queensway East, north of the QEW, around the lunch hour. The call came in to police a few minutes after 12:30 p.m.

Police said the person operating the scooter, described only as a male, was transported to a local trauma centre with injuries described as critical.

No further details, including the specific type of scooter involved in the collision or the male’s age, were provided by police.

Circumstances surrounding the crash have also not yet been revealed.

Police didn’t specify what type of vehicle was involved in the collision with the scooter, nor did they mention any other injuries.

While investigators are on the scene, police urge motorists to avoid the area and choose alternate routes.

Police said road closures as a result of the crash include:

  • Westbound traffic on The Queensway East is being redirected to northbound Cawthra Road.
  • Southbound traffic on Cawthra Road is being redirected to The Queensway East westbound lanes.
