Peel Region reporting 58 new cases of COVID-19, 28 in Brampton and 26 in Mississauga

The Region of Peel is reporting 58 new COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday (August 17).

Of Tuesday’s new cases, 28 are in Brampton, while 26 are in Mississauga, and just four are in Caledon.

This brings the total for the Region to 112,725 cases. Of these, 111,420 have recovered, while 413 are still pending, 3,261 have been hospitalized, and 893 have died.

As of Tuesday, 59.4 per cent of cases are in Brampton, 36.4 per cent are in Mississauga, and just four per cent are in Caledon.

The Province is reporting 348 new cases on Tuesday, as well as 10 new deaths. With 17,408 tests completed, this brings the positivity rate down to two per cent.

Additionally, the Province is reporting another 40,626 vaccinations. As of Tuesday, 72 per cent of Ontarians have received at least one dose of a vaccine, including 83 per cent of adults, and 75 per cent of adults have been fully immunized.
